Paid My Insurance But Got Cancelled
Insurance in Houston, be it commercial, personal or homeowner’s, is not much different than insurance in other cities when it comes to duties of an insured. Some people mistakenly think that their only duty as an insured is to pay their bill.
When you buy an insurance policy, you also agree to other things but paying your premium is often not one of them. (This information is legalistic, but rest assured, if you don’t pay, you will be cancelled. Even, so often you are not contractually obligated to pay your bill.)
You are obligated, however, to work in good faith to meet certain other conditions of the contract, for example to show via inspections that your property is acceptable to the insured.
Simply paying your bill does not, by itself, entitle you to a policy. Look at all insurance correspondence, and make sure that you fulfill your duties, especially after a loss (by fire, burglary, or accident).
